BONESA KHANYA PROJECT (BKP)
Bonesa Khanya is a Sotho expression meaning “show the light”.
The Founder of BKP; The late David.N.Mkwayi (1947–2009) was networked by Pan-African Christian Women Association (PACWA)-an international Non-Government Organisation with the aim of implementing a collaborative food distribution program with BKP. BKP was started as a Collaborative Food Distribution Programme in the month of Dec. 2001 and was registered with the Department of Social Development in 2002.
The year 2003, saw BKP incorporating efficient strategies and Project Management systems via the appointment of her pioneer Project Manager.BKP has remained under the same original management till this day.
Over the years,BKP has been involved in several collaborative partnerships with several other organizations(locally and internationally) and has- via these collaborative partnerships with other entities;- implemented programs that addressed issues such as–
- Food Security

- innovative Job Creation
- Youth Development
Currently(2007 TILL DATE), BKP is involved in a collaborative partnership program with the FORTE HIGH SCHOOL, DOBSONVILLE,SOWETO,GAUTENG -:Whereby the academic performance of our beneficiaries are improved via the Extra Maths and Science classes BKP supports.Furthermore; BKP assists in securing- post matric opportunities(internships/learnerships,job vacancies/opportunities etc);so as to absorp our beneficiaries after their successful matriculation;assisting to create a bright career/future for them.
BKP plans to expand her Youth Development collaborative program to South of Johannesburg-
The centre when established will offer- free computer & internet training for the unemployed youths,free career counselling and job referrals.BKP is currently discussing with potential collaborative partners of the planned project.
